Norwegian tank storage company Odfjell has closed down a further 50 tanks at its Rotterdam site because of safety concerns, the company confirmed on Thursday.
Last week government inspectors ordered 30 tanks to be shut down because of the risk of leaks and the lack of proper safety measures.
This means half the tanks operated by the company are now out of action. Odfjell has been given until August to get safety standards and personnel training in order.
The company has admitted the problems and the director in charge of maintenance resigned last week, the Financieele Dagblad reported.
