Christian Democrat and GroenLinks MPs have published draft legislation which would give employees the right to work flexible hours and to work more from home, the Volkskrant reports on Thursday.

The draft bill has the support of a large majority of parliament, the paper says.
Its proposers, Eddy van Hijum (CDA) and Ineke van Gent (GroenLinks), say some 4.9 million workers would be able to take advantage of the measures contained in the bill.
Contribution
‘In order to pay for the cost of the greying population it is important that everyone who can work makes a contribution,’ they say in the bill’s introduction.
The legislation, they say, will benefit productivity, health, the environment and traffic problems as well as making it easier to combine work and care activities.
‘We are not for a society in which everyone works more and more. But there must be an end to the taboo about opening your laptop in the evening and finishing a task,’ Van Gent told the paper.
Refusal
Employers would only be allowed to refuse employee requests for more flexible hours for serious reasons and the measures would also apply to small firms, the MPs say.
At the moment, workers have the right to ask for flexible hours after six months.
Employers are opposed to the proposal and unions in favour, the Volkskrant says.
