The Netherlands is second on the list of richest EU nations published on Tuesday by Eurostat. Luxemburg tops the list.
Dutch gross domestic product (GDP) per head of the population was 33% above the European average in 2010.
Spain, Italy and Greece fared worst in 2010. Greek GDP was 10% under the EU average, down from 6% in 2009.
Latvia, Romania and Bulgaria take the last three places.
