Media personality Henk Bres has collected over 40,000 signatures to a petition which will force parliament to debate introducing a ban on the pro-paedophile lobby group Martijn.

Under the citizens’ initiative scheme, controversial issues have to be placed on the parliamentary agenda if more than 40,000 signatures have been collected in support.
In June, the public prosecution department ruled that there is no reason to ban or prosecute the foundation, which seeks to legalise sex with minors.
Christian Democrat MP Pieter Omtzigt has already asked the Council of Europe to state if it feels the Netherlands is meeting anti-child abuse treaties by not banning the association.
Bres will present his petition to prime minister Mark Rutte when parliament returns after the summer break in September.
