Boy gets one year detention for murdering 15-year-old

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to one year’s youth detention for stabbing a 14-year-old youth to death in the fishing village of Urk last year.

Dirk Post was stabbed 47 times and the court said it is convinced Jaap van der H, who was 15 at the time, had deliberately set out to kill him.
After youth detention, the boy will be sent to a closed psychiatric institution for juvenile offenders.
Two other youths, now aged 13 and 14, were found not guilty of any involvement in the murder.
The murder in November 2009 shocked the staunchly Protestant village. Post’s body was found in woods near the village a day after he was reported missing by his parents.
