Under-aged refugees found in Italy

Police have tracked down 11 under-aged girls who disappeared from Dutch refugee centres, one of whom was working as a prostitute in Italy, a court in Zwolle was told on Monday.

Ten people were appearing in court in connection with an international human trafficking ring. The public prosecution department wants the court to remand the 10, including two alleged ringleaders, in custody for a further three months while the investigation continues.
Some 50 people have been arrested in connection with the case since October, mostly Nigerian nationals living in the Netherlands and Italy.
Police say 140 under-aged Nigerian girls have disappeared from Dutch refugee centres since January 2006.
