Stemwijzer stops keeping email addresses

The Stemwijzer online voting advice service is to stop keeping the internet addresses of voters who use its services after the Volkskrant said it had asked a team of hackers to try to gather information on peoples’ voting intentions.

The institute for the public and politics (IPP) which runs the Stemwijzer website used the information for political research. Some 4.7 million people consulted the system before the November general election.
