Dutch postal services are now operated by PostNL, following the break-up of TNT Post into postal arm PostNL and delivery service TNT Express in 2011. It is the latest name change for one half of the former state-owned Staatsbedrijf der Posterijen Telegrafie en Telefonie (PTT) which became Koninklijke PTT Nederland. KPN bought Australia’s TNT in 1996 and merged it with its postal arm PTT Post. In 1998, KPN split into two: TNT Post Groep became TPG and its telecommunications arm became KPN. Then the company changed its name to TNT Post, and since the break up, to PostNL. PostNL appears to be continually reorganising to cope with declining volumes of mail while closing post offices like crazy so you can’t actually post anything if you wanted to.All typical untranslatable Dutch words and expressions translated in the Dictionairy of Dutchness
