Body may have lain in Assen house for “several months”

The body of a person discovered last week by police at a house in Assen may have been there “several months”, a police spokesman has confirmed following an article in local paper Dagblad van het Noorden.
The spokesman said there were no signs the person had come to a violent end but that the investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
Police found the body at the Oldambtstraat following “signals” earlier last Tuesday about “a worrying situation at the address”.
According to the Dagblad van het Noorden, the deceased is a woman. It also alleged her daughter had initially denied the police access to the house. Police have not confirmed this.
The spokesman said police had been called to the address in May 2024, but that they hadn’t gone in because there seemed to be no need and they were not authorised to enter.
