The rain will continue throughout the day, and the west of the Netherlands will likely see thunderstorms.
Temperatures will reach highs of 15°, lower than usual for this time of year, according to the weather institute KNMI.
The sun will come out in most places in the afternoon but winds will keep the air chilly.
Friday will be cloudy with periods of heavy rain. The west will see highs of 17°, owing to warm ocean air. The rest of the country will only reach around 14°.
Autumn holidays for schools start at the weekend and the weather will be cloudy and cool. The north of the country is likely to see rain but the days will get drier as the weekend goes on. The highs will be between 15° and 19°.
