Trains cancelled after dog runs on to track near The Hague

Train services between The Hague and Delft were suspended on Monday after a dog ran onto the track.

The disruptions began at 8am when a train had to stop to avoid hitting the animal. All main line services have been cancelled until at least 10.30am, including Intercity trains from Hollands Spoor station to Breda and Sprinter trains between The Hague and Dordrecht.

Trams between The Hague and Delft are running as normal. Passengers are advised to check the NS travel planner before setting out.

The setback happened just as services between The Hague and Utrecht resumed following work to repair a broken overhead power line.

NS said the cable was damaged by a train passing through Gouda on Sunday afternoon. The stranded train had to be led away before the power lines could be fixed. Replacement buses were laid on to transport passengers between Gouda and Lansingerland-Zoetermeer.
