Add as a favourite source on Google Add DutchNews as a favourite source on GoogleThe Dutch women’s hockey team have reached their eighth World Cup final in a row, beating Belgium 1-0 in Amstelveen on Thursday, and are now one win from a fourth world title in succession – a feat no country has ever achieved.
The final is on Saturday at 18.00 at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, against either Argentina or Australia.
Frédérique Matla scored the only goal in the first half against Belgium. In the second half, Belgium thought they had scored an equalising goal but it was disallowed due to a foul after a video review.
The Dutch were also briefly reduced to ten players after a yellow card.
Fourth title in sight
The Netherlands have won the last three World Cups, in 2014, 2018 and 2022, and no country has won the women’s title four times in succession. They reached the semi-finals with a 4-1 win over China on Sunday.
The Dutch men play their own semi-final later on Friday against Spain.
