Curaçao notched up a resounding 4-0 win in a Dutch Caribbean derby against Aruba in their final warm-up game before heading to the World Cup.

All four goals were scored in the second half by Joshua Brenet, Jeremy Antonisse, Livano Comenencia and Juninho Bacuna. Bacuna’s cool finish capped an outstanding display in which his mazy runs tore open the Aruban defence.

Head coach Dick Advocaat singled out the fans who packed into the 15,000-seater Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad to see off the team for special praise.

“The joy among the people is incredible, it’s something we never see in the Netherlands,” he said. “We went for it in the second half and the fans went for it too.’

Advocaat said there would be less of the free-flowing football on show against Aruba when the team lines up against Germany in Houston for its first game in six days’ time.

“We’ll face different opponents at the World Cup, so we’ll have to play a bit differently, ” he said.
