The child was resuscitated by medical staff at the scene and taken to hospital after landing in a downstairs neighbour’s garden on Frans Bekkerstraat, but later died from his injuries, police said in a post on X.
An air ambulance responded after the alarm was raised at 10pm on Monday.
Police say it is unclear why the child fell but they are working on the basis it was not deliberate. Further investigations, including a forensic examination of the scene, are being carried out.
