Over 167,000 people had already filed their 2025 tax return by mid-morning on Sunday, the first day that the tax office automated system was up and running this year.

The first return came in just two minutes and 23 seconds after the online portal opened at midnight, the Telegraaf reported on Monday, some two minutes quicker than the first 2024 return was made.

In total, over 9.6 million individuals and companies should by now have received a letter from the tax office calling on them to file their returns, and much of their information is already filled in automatically.

Tax returns should be filed with the tax office by April 30 unless you have requested an extension.
