Double Dutch: Femke Kok, Jenning de Boo win world sprint titles

The World speed skating sprint championships in Heerenveen have been the most successful ever for the Dutch squad, with Femke Kok winning all four of her races and Jenning de Boo three of his.
The event involves skating 500 metres and 1,000 metres on two successive days. The Dutch women swept the board in their competition, with Suzanne Schulting taking silver and Marrit Fledderus the bronze.
“What a great way to end the season,” Kok said after completing several victory rounds. “It is wonderful that so many people turned out to see us and great to celebrate with everyone.”
In the men’s event Jenning de Boo headed of the challenge from his Olympic rival Jordan Stolz, taking three of the four distances and setting a new championship record. Stolz took silver and Ning Zhongyan of China the bronze.
The last time the Netherlands took both World sprint titles was in 2022 when Thomas Krol and Jutta Leerdam won gold.
