The Schiphol airport authority expects Schiphol itself to process 68 to 72 million passengers this year, partly because airlines are using bigger aircraft.

If the top level is reached, it would take the number of travellers to above the pre-coronavirus record of 71.7 million. In 2025, 68.8 million people travelled via Schiphol and there were 477,552 flights to and from the Amsterdam hub, a rise of 1% on the previous year.

The state-owned company, which also owns Rotterdam, Eindhoven and Lelystad airports and has stakes in Maastricht and Brisbane, said in Friday it had booked net profit of €550 million in 2025. The Dutch government has a 70% stake in the Schiphol group and the city of Amsterdam just over 20%.

“2025 was an important year for the Schiphol group,” the airport company said. “The aircraft using Schiphol are quieter, we’ve worked hard to catch up on maintenance and improve our staff working conditions.”

Schiphol plans to invest €10 billion in facilities and work on new piers in the coming years.

The airport faces a cap of 478,000 aircraft movements in 2026, although the figure is the subject of several legal disputes.
