Gold for Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong in the 1,500m speed skating
Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong has delivered the Netherlands’ latest Olympic medal – gold in the women’s 1,500 metres.
Rijpma-de Jong won bronze in the same event four years ago.
Ragne Wiklund of Norway took the silver and Valérie Maltais of Canada the bronze. Femke Kok, who earlier won gold in the 500 metres and silver in the 1,000 metres was fifth.
The Netherlands is currently fourth in the medals table, with seven gold, seven silver and three bronze, with more potential medals to come.
