The two big winners of the national lottery Staatsloterij, who each picked up €15 million tax free in the New Year draw, were both given their tickets as presents, Dutch media reported on Monday.

One winner lives in Nuenen, near Eindhoven, and the other in Amstelveen. Both tickets were also bought locally.

The New Year postcode lottery prize of €59.7 million went to people living in postcode 4001 in Tiel. Half the money has been divided between households with winning postcode 4001 SG and the rest among residents of the wider 4001 area.

According to the lottery organisers, several households will get almost €1.9 million, but one household, with three tickets, will pick up €5.6 million.
