Looking to make the most of your life in the Netherlands, to get your Dutch up to scratch and ask experts all those questions which have been bugging you? Help is at hand. Tickets are now available for the Amsterdam edition of the IamExpat Fair at the Beurs van Berlage in the city centre.

The event on March 7 is the 21st fair to be organised by the IamExpat team and, says event manager Claire Leunissen, is set to be the best one yet. “I think the number of exhibitors will be close to 100 this year,” says Claire, who is hard at work overseeing the organisation, developing workshops and finalising the list of stand holders.

“For this year we have developed a special app which will make it easier for visitors to interact, register for workshops and make the most of the day,” she says. “All of your fair tickets, including general admission and workshops, will be in one convenient location instead of attached to separate confirmation emails, and you can see instantly if there is still space at a tax workshop, for example.”

The IamExpat Fair is an international one-day event designed to support the expat community in the Netherlands. Visitors can find out more about buying a house, filing their taxes and boosting their career, and this year staffing agency Undutchables is making a welcome return to the jobs section.

In Amsterdam, the city council’s specialised service for international residents will also be back to share more information about life in the Dutch capital. The David Lloyd gym chain is exhibiting this year for those looking to get fit, and visitors with young children can explore international education options as well.

Legal issues are another hot topic among the international community. “People always have questions about immigration and visas, and we are very pleased to have a couple of exhibitors from specialised law firms who are hosting workshops, so people can ask their questions directly,” Claire says.

Those considering learning Dutch, or struggling to make progress, will also find plenty of advice. And for visitors with problems with their landlord, or questions about tenant rights, the team from Woon! will be on hand to help.

“The fair really has become an established part of the international community’s calendar,” says Claire. “And we are delighted that we can do our bit in making expats feel at home.”

Free tickets to attend the fair can be ordered until February 3, after which they will cost €5 each (with a special two for the price of one deal for the first week).

The IamExpat Fair in Amsterdam takes place at the Beurs van Berlage, a short walk from Amsterdam Central Station, on March 7 from 10 am to 5 pm.
