Dutchman Gian van Veen sets his sights on world darts title

Darts player Gian van Veen has become only the third Dutch player ever to take part in a PDC World Championship final, after beating two-time world champion Gary Anderson 6–3 in the semi-finals on Friday evening.
Van Veen, who is 23, will meet 18-year-old Luke Littler in the final on Saturday evening. The match has been dubbed the “youngest final ever”, given the combined age of the two participants is just 41.
Should he win, Van Veen will come home one million pounds sterling richer and will be the third Dutch PDC world champion ever, after Michael van Gerwen (2014, 2017, 2019) and Raymond van Barneveld (2007).
“If I win, perhaps Dutch youngsters will consider taking up the sport,” Van Veen told the AD. “And hopefully that will bring more Dutch players to the world championships in years to come.”
Van Veen and Littler have met six times before and are currently level pegging on wins.
