Dutch music exports reached a record €247 million in 2025, driven by strong international demand for live shows, according to a report by industry body Buma Cultuur.
The export value of Dutch music was up 12% or €27 million on 2024, reaching the highest level ever recorded. When the organisation started registering foreign sales in 2004, the total was just €31.6 million.
The figures reflect net revenues from Dutch music activities abroad, including salaries, profits and taxes. Live performances accounted for by far the largest share, generating €197.1 million. As in previous years, electronic music dominated, with dance artists together earning €165.6 million overseas.
Buma Cultuur director Frank Helmink said the growing export value was down to the continued strength of Dutch music. He said he expects international revenues to continue rising as Dutch composers and producers are increasingly asked to co-write music with local acts around the world.
Dance exports accounted for 69% of the total. As in 2024, DJ Franky Rizardo topped the list, with 130 international performances. He was followed by Afrojack with 114 shows and Mau P with 112.
The highest-ranked female solo artist was Ki/Ki, in 22nd place.
Non-electronic acts performing strongly abroad included death metal group Distant, with 102 shows outside the Netherlands, pianists Lucas and Arthur Jussen, and popular classical orchestra leader André Rieu.
