Emergency services evacuated some 3,000 people from a discotheque in Saasveld, Twente, after a fire broke out in the early hours of Monday morning.

The fire was reported at around 1am and quickly brought under control, local broadcaster RTL Oost reported. It is not known what caused the fire.

Dancing Bruins is one of the largest venues in Twente, with a capacity of 3,500 people in a village of just 1,700 inhabitants. Its Sunday night dance events draw thousands of visitors every week.
