Staffing agencies fined over €800,000 for Grand Prix labour

A staffing agency from Rotterdam has been fined €427,500 for allowing 60 foreign nationals to work at the Grand Prix in Zandvoort last year without work permits, the labour inspectorate said on Wednesday.
The 60 worked in the event’s catering department, washing up and helping out in the kitchens, the inspectorate said.
An intermediary company which “rented” the men from the agency was also fined €405,000 for failing to check if the mainly Colombian nationals were allowed to work in the Netherlands.
The two companies have also been put under special supervision, meaning the inspectorate can close down their operations if they commit similar offences within the next five years.
