Sunday was officially the warmest December 7 ever recorded at the De Bilt weather station near Utrecht, with the temperature reaching 14° during the day, according to weather bureau Weeronline.

The previous record of 13.8° dates from 2007.

The highest temperature ever recorded on December 7 was 15.7° at the Epen weather station in Limburg in 1979, but official records are set at De Bilt, which is roughly in the centre of the country.

Sunday’s record is the 10th warm weather record of 2025, the most recent being on November 5. In March this year three weather records were set.

Weeronline says the temperature will range between 12° and 14° for the next few days but could reach 15° in the far south. The warmth will be coupled with plenty of cloud and showers, although the sun will break through at times.

According to the KNMI weather bureau, temperatures will drop slightly as the week progresses and will be in line with seasonal averages leading up to the holiday week.
