Dutchman living in Spain and sons arrested for cocaine smuggling

A 56-year-old Dutch national who lives in Spain has been arrested in connection with an investigation into international drugs trafficking.
His two sons, aged 31 and 33 and who live in Haarlem and The Hague, have also been picked up, the public prosecution department said on Wednesday.
The investigation into the three started in 2021 when the criminal communication system SkyECC was broken up, netting the police 80 million messages to comb through, the police said in a website statement.
The three are suspected of having a role in the transport of six shipments of cocaine totalling 600 kilos, which were intercepted in the Netherlands, Britain and Spain.
In total, police searched 10 buildings in the Netherlands and one in Spain, seizing phones and hard drives, cars, expensive watches and a quantity of cash.
The two men in the Netherlands will appear in court on Friday for a remand hearing.
