Trams stranded in central Rotterdam after power failure

Trams in the centre of Rotterdam were stranded for around three hours on Monday following a power line failure.
Local transport provider RET said the power was accidentally cut to the network at around 9am during public works. The exact cause is still being investigated.
Trams all round the city were disrupted after the incident happened on the central street of Weena, which runs past Rotterdam Centraal station, local news network Rijnmond reported.
Several trams were unable to move from Hofplein, causing long tailbacks in the area. The tram routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 11 were diverted around the square.
RET restarted the trams at around midday and said it was working on a permanent solution.
