Volt say “no” to debate with climate change-denying Forum

Pan-European party Volt has pulled out of an election debate on NPO radio because it had been paired to discuss the environment with far-right conspiracy party Forum voor Democratie.
The FvD “denies the climate crisis and has in the past dismissed climate experts as witches”, the party said in a press statement.
“Given the way our society is becoming more radical, we have come to the conclusion that we cannot give any more oxygen to a party that lies,” the statement said.
The 2.5 hour debate features the leader of all 15 political parties currently in parliament. They have been paired in advance with another and given a topic – such as housing, discrimination and law and order, to discuss in a couple of minutes.
The debate will take place on October 10 from 2.30 pm to 4 pm and will be broadcast live across several NPO channels.
The Netherlands will elect a new lower house of parliament on October 29.
