Amsterdam is the most expensive Dutch city to park your car for 24 hours, an investigation into wildly fluctuating street parking rates has shown.

Holiday site Weflycheap looked at the parking rates in 342 Dutch towns and cities.

People who manage to find a place in the city centre, pay almost €140 for 24 hours. That plunges down to €87.50 in Haarlem which is closely followed by Rotterdam, Hilversum and Utrecht with €86.52, €82 and €70.58 respectively.

The hourly rate in Amsterdam is €7.76 but Utrecht, where the overnight parking rate is much lower, has the more expensive hourly rate of €7.84. The cheapest place to park is Geldermalsen in Gelderland which charges just 60 cents for the first hour.
