A mild start to November but plenty of showers to come

The first half of November will be unusually mild and wet, with daytime temperatures between 13° and 16° and mild nights, weather bureau Weeronline said in a long range forecast on Thursday.
Southerly and south-westerly winds are bringing warm, moist air across the country, keeping temperatures well above average for the time of year.
Showers will be frequent, especially in the first week, as November is typically one of the wettest months. Along the coast it may be windy at times, though the risk of a storm remains low.
By mid-November, it will become slightly cooler and drier, with afternoon temperatures between 9° and 12°. Nights will remain relatively mild and frost will still be rare, Weeronline said.
Rainfall will decrease as the month progresses, bringing some respite from the earlier wet conditions. However, sunshine will remain limited, with many grey days due to fog or low cloud.
As winds ease, these cloudy conditions may persist for long periods, which is typical for late autumn, Weeronline said. Daytime temperatures will hover between 7° and 10°, and during clear, still nights, it may briefly dip below freezing inland.
