PSV and Ajax shared the spoils in the first heavyweight clash of the Eredivisie season in Eindhoven, as a late goal by Oscar Gloukh denied the home side the win their enterprising play deserved.

PSV dominated the opening half-hour with more than 70% possession, but their only reward was Ismail Saibari’s headed goal in the ninth minute.

equalised when referee Serdar Gözübüyük awarded a penalty after studying  video review of Sergiño Dest’s tackle on Oliver Edvardsen, with Kenneth Taylor converting the spot-kick.

PSV suffered a blow when Ruben van Bommel was taken off shortly afterwards, but still finished the first half stronger and should have taken the lead straight after the restart when Saibari screwed a volley wide from close range.

Yarek Gasiorowski looked to have snatched the win when he headed PSV’s second goal nine minutes from time and then blocked a shot from Mika Godts. But Gloukh had the last word with a shot between the legs of Matej Kovár in the 88th minute.

Feyenoord drop points

Leaders Feyenoord dropped their first points of the season at AZ, who equalised with a 98th-minute penalty by Mexx Meerdinck after the visitors had come back from 2-1 down in the second half.

The teams went into the half-time interval after Sem Steijn scored a penalty for Feyenoord to cancel out Ro-Zangelo Daal’s magnificent curling shot in the 19th minute.

Denso Kasius restored the lead in the 51st minute when he drifted into the area and stroked the ball into the bottom corner. Feyenoord quickly replied through Jordan Bos’s deflected strike and looked to be heading for a sixth consecutive league victory when Anis Hadji Moussa rounded off a slick passing move in the 78th minute.

But a rash foul in injury time by Jaden Slory gave Meerdink the chance to salvage a point.

Groningen fourth

Groningen moved up to fourth place with a win over newcomers Telstar, as Younes Taha’s free-kick and a late strike by Oscar Zawada proved the difference between the teams.

New Twente coach John van den Brom watched his team romp to a 5-1 win at Sparta, with four goals in the second half to double their haul for the season so far.

Heracles remain pointless at the bottom of the table as Sydney van Hooijdonk’s header in the 85th minute completed a comeback for NAC Breda. Heracles took an early lead when Yvandro Borges Sanches ran from deep in his own half to score, before Boy Kemper equalised from a corner in the second half.

Ihattaren on target

Mohamed Ihattaren’s 15th-minute goal was enough for Fortuna Sittard to claim the points against Utrecht and move above their opponents into sixth place.

Milan Smit scored twice in the last 10 minutes to earn Go Ahead Eagles the win in the IJssel derby against PEC Zwolle, who were reduced to 10 men after just 90 seconds when Jamiro Monteiro was shown a red card for a dangerous high kick.

Another late goal decided the battle of the promoted clubs as Lewis Schouten’s header gave Excelsior a 2-1 win at Volendam, while Heerenveen survived a second-half fightback by NEC to record their first win of the season.
