Thinking about taking up Dutch lessons this autumn, or kickstarting your career? Or what about buying a house or just finding out more about life in The Hague, Rotterdam, Leiden or Delft?

On October 11, in the Grote Kerk in the heart of The Hague, you will find the answers to all your questions under one roof at the latest edition of the IamExpat Fair.

The IamExpat Fair is an international one-day event designed to connect and support the expat community in the Netherlands, says event manager Claire Leunissen, who also manages the fairs in Amsterdam and the new event in Eindhoven in November.

70 exhibitors

This year’s event promises to be one of the biggest in The Hague to date with70 exhibitors, says Claire, who is still adding more presentations and workshops to the programme. There are sessions on learning Dutch, filing your taxes, buying a home and how to make sure financial advisers don’t take advantage of you!

It’s all part of the package to help new arrivals feel at home and deal with specific issues the region’s international community may face. Take learning Dutch, for example, says Claire. “We know people like to take classes in person rather than via an app, so here you can get a taste of what those lessons could be like.”

And if you want to get into shape, buy the perfect food for your dog or go Dutch with a Swapfiets bike, experts will be on hand to help you with that as well. “It’s all about helping you live a good life in the Netherlands,” she says. “After all, that is what we are all looking for when we move here.”

Finding work in South Holland

A new event this year is a presentation on finding work in South Holland, which has been co-sponsored by the city of The Hague. “It will offer specific advice about finding jobs in the region,” Claire says.

“The Hague International Centre will also have a larger stand this year and is being joined by representatives from Rotterdam and Leiden so you can find out everything you could want to know about life in the wider area.”

Tickets are available now and if you sign up before September 16, you can get two tickets for the price of one – or just €5.

The programme is being updated as new events become available. Follow the IamExpat Facebook page for updates and keep an eye on the website to make sure you get your name down for all the events you want to attend.
