KLM to cancel 119 flights on Wednesday as ground staff strike

KLM will cancel 119 flights on Wednesday because of a six-hour strike by some ground staff, the airline said on Monday. It is the third walkout in as many weeks.
The strike, organised by unions FNV and CNV, will run from 6 am to midday. Ground staff include baggage handlers, check-in workers and employees who guide aircraft on the tarmac.
Earlier this month, KLM reached a deal with three other unions – De Unie, the technical staff union NVLT and VKP – which includes a 2.25% pay rise spread over two years. FNV and CNV rejected the deal, saying staff need higher wages.
Another strike is already planned for next Wednesday and is expected to last eight hours.
