Dutch men are surprise bronze medalists in 4×100 metres relay

The Dutch men’s 4×100 metres relay team were the surprise winners of the bronze medal on the last day of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Sunday.
Taymir Burnet, Elvis Afrifa, Xavi Mo-Ajok and Nsikak Ekpo set a new Dutch record of 37.81 in the race, which was won by the US in 37.29. Canada took the silver.
“We qualified as 16th, and we leave in third place, we set a new Dutch record in the rain. We deserve this, said Mo-Ajok after the race.
The Dutch women’s 4×400 metres relay team, who won the title two years ago and silver at the Olympics, also won the bronze medal, with Femke Bol picking up her third podium place of the games. America won gold and Jamaica took the silver.
The Netherlands ended the competition in fourth place on the medals table with two gold, two silver and two bronze.
