Ajax have completed the signing of Danish international forward Kasper Dolberg for €10 million in the biggest deal on Dutch transfer deadline day.

The Amsterdam club targeted the 27-year-old Anderlecht player as a replacement for Brian Brobbey, who joined Sunderland on Monday for a reported €20 million.

The two clubs were understood to be haggling over the price, with Anderlecht valuing Dolberg at around €12 million. Dolberg, who has signed a four-year deal, previously played for Ajax between 2015 and 2019, scoring 33 goals in 78 appearances.

Ajax’s technical director, Alex Kroes, had said only 40% of the income from summer transfers would be available for new players, but the club’s coffers were boosted by the last-minute sale of Bertrand Traoré to Sunderland for €2.5 million.

Elsewhere on deadline day, Feyenoord recruited Canadian striker Cyle Larin on loan from Mallorca on the final day of transfer business, giving them an extra option through the middle along with Ayase Ueda and another summer signing, Danish forward Casper Tengstedt.

NEC Nijmegen signed 22-year-old defender Deveron Fonville from FC Dordrecht on a four-year contract as a replacement for Calvin Verdonk, who left at the weekend for French club Lille.

Mitrovic to Excelsior

Serbian international Stefan Mitrovic is joining Excelsior on loan from Serie A club Hellas Verona, while Croatian utility player Marko Pjaca has moved to Twente Enschede from Dinamo Zagreb on a free transfer.

Excelsior also completed a loan deal for midfielder Chris-Kévin Nadje from city rivals Feyenoord.

Central defender Alec van Hoorenbeeck is moving on loan from Twente Enschede to near neighbours Heracles Almelo to improve his chances of a first-team place.

Groningen acquired 19-year-old Norwegian midfielder Travis Hernes on loan from Newcastle United with an option to buy the player at the end of the season.

The last deal before Tuesday’s midnight deadline saw English striker Shola Shoretire join PEC Zwolle on loan from Greek side PAOK Saloniki.
