Utrecht and AZ safely through to European play-offs with wins

Both Dutch clubs in European action on Thursday safely negotiated their second-round ties to book their place in the play-off rounds of the Europa League and Conference League.
Utrecht beat Swiss club Servette 2-1 in the Europa League with Danish striker Victor Jensen netting twice in the second half for a 5-2 aggregate victory.
Ron Jans’s side will now face Zrinjski Mostar, from Bosnia, who won 2-1 in Iceland against Breidablik after drawing their home leg 1-1.
In the Conference League, AZ Alkmaar cruised past Vaduz in Liechtenstein, despite playing almost the whole match with 10 men after Ro-Zangelo Daal was sent off in the sixth minute for a heavy challenge.
Leading 3-0 from the first leg, AZ contained the minnows comfortably before Troy Parrott, on as a late substitute for Mexx Meerdink, put away a penalty to make the aggregate score 4-0.
AZ will now face Bulgaria’s Levski Sofia for a place in the group stages of the tournament. All ties will be played on August 21 and August 28.
