PostNL to stop shipping parcels to US over tariffs

The Dutch postal service PostNL will stop sending packages to the United States from Saturday, over new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
In July, the White House announced new rules governing the import of packages worth less than $800 (683 euros).
Previously, there were no duties imposed on packages of less than $800 but from August 29, 2025, customs will need to be paid on all packages.
However, according to PostNL, US Customs has not provided clarity on how to process these packages.
“As a result, it will no longer be possible to send parcels and packages to the US starting August 23rd,” PostNL said in a statement.
The ban applies to all parcels, from businesses located in the Netherlands and from private customers sending gifts or other items.
Letters and documents can still be sent.
The Netherlands isn’t the only country impacted by the new rules. Postal companies in Scandinavia, Austria, Belgium, Germany and France are also pausing deliveries.
PostNL says it is working on finding a solution.
