NEC head pack of four in Eredivisie as Ajax and AZ drop points

NEC Nijmegen took over at the top of the Eredivisie with a 4-1 win at 10-man Heracles to lead a pack of four teams with maximum points from two games.
Jizz Hornkamp gave Heracles the lead in the second minute when he just beat goalkeeper Gonzalo Crettaz to the ball, but the striker was dismissed seven minutes later for a mistimed challenge on Sami Ouaissa.
Bryan Linssen levelled the scores near the end of the first half when he rounded off a neat passing move in the penalty area.
Linssen missed two clear chances after the interval before Philippe Sandler headed NEC into the lead from a corner, while substitute Kento Shiogai scored twice in the closing minutes.
PSV won 2-0 at Twente thanks to an early own goal by goalkeeper Max Bruns and a left-footed strike from Jerdy Schouten. But the champions suffered a blow when summer signing Alassane Pléa had to be taken off in the first half with a knee injury.
Teenager breaks record
Feyenoord came from behind to beat newly promoted city rivals Excelsior, who went ahead when Timon Wellenreuther was unable to keep out Derensili Sanches Fernandes’ fierce shot.
Ayase Ueda headed in an equaliser when Quinten Timber’s shot rebounded into his path, before Sem Steijn scored the winner with a take-down and volley 10 minutes before half-time.
PEC Zwolle also have a 100% record following their 2-0 win against newcomers Telstar, whose fans are still waiting to see their first Eredivisie goal in 47 years.
The match also featured a debut for 15-year-old PEC midfielder Jadiel Pereira da Gama, who became the youngest player to feature in the Dutch top division, beating a record that had stood since 1959.
Go Ahead test Ajax
Ajax could only manage to take a point away from Deventer despite going ahead after three minutes when Davy Klaassen reacted first to Gerrit Nauber’s skewed attempt at a clearance.
Go Ahead responded when Melle Meulensteen headed in from Victor Edvardsen’s perfectly weighted cross, before Evert Linthorst added a second just before half-time. But Youri Baas ensured the teams went into the break on equal terms when he headed in a rebound after Jorthy Mokio’s overhead kick had been saved.
AZ also had to settle for a point away from home as the 1.96m defender Xavier Mbuyamba headed an equaliser for Volendam after Ibrahim Sadiq and Troy Parrott had scored for the visitors. Volendam had taken an early lead when Aurelio Oehlers’ low volley beat Rome Jayden Owusu-Oduro.
Late wins for Sparta, Groningen
Tobias Lauritsen scored a late penalty to claim all three points for Sparta against Utrecht, who had equalised in the second half through Dani de Wit. Sparta’s opener was a blistering shot on the turn by Joshua Kitolano in the 25th minute.
Groningen won the derby of the north with two goals by Brynjólfur Willumsson, with the winner coming in the fifth minute of injury time when the Icelander swept home Thom van Bergen’s knock-down.
Willumsson profited from a howler by Andries Noppert to equalise in the first half when the goalkeeper horribly misjudged his long-range shot, after Jacob Trenskow had opened the scoring for Heerenveen.
