Household spending rose in June, industrial production fell

Dutch households spent 0.7% more in June 2025 than a year earlier, national statistics agency CBS said on Friday. The figures are adjusted for price changes and differences in the number of shopping days.
In particular, households spend 3.7% more on durable goods, driven by higher sales of clothing, shoes and electrical appliances. Spending on food and drink was up 2.3%, while the consumption of other goods such as energy and motor fuels fell 1%.
The CBS also said consumers were less pessimistic about their financial situation over the next 12 months.
Also on Friday the CBS said industrial production had fallen 0.2% in June, when compared with the year-earlier period.
Half of all eight types of industry monitored by the CBS saw production decline, led by the technical services sector, along with plastics production, the CBS said.
