Changeable weather ahead this weekend as showers return

The Netherlands will see more unsettled weather from Thursday, with showers expected most days after a long dry spell, weather forecasters say.
Despite the showers, there will still be dry periods with sunshine but the warm summer temperatures of 25° or more are unlikely to return in the coming days.
On Thursday morning cloud cover was widespread, with showers moving in along the coast and later spreading inland. By the afternoon heavier showers are expected further east, some with thunder and heavy rain, while western regions will brighten up.
Temperatures will range from 21° in the west to 25° near the German border, with light to moderate south-westerly winds that may pick up along the coast.
Friday will start dry and sunny in many areas, but cloud and showers will move in from the south-west by the afternoon. It will be cooler, with temperatures between 19° and 21°, and a strong southerly wind.
The KNMI’s long range forecast sees little change in the coming week although there could be a shift to drier weather towards the middle of September.
