Showers, sunshine and cooler weather to start the week

The new week begins with a mix of sunshine and showers on Monday. The morning should stay mostly dry, but the afternoon and evening will bring widespread rain, especially in the centre, east and north.
Some areas may see thunder and over 20 millimetres of rain, though there will still be sunny spells in between.
The southwest and far north will see the most sunshine. Temperatures will reach 22 to 24°, possibly 25° in the east, but will drop during heavier showers. A moderate southwesterly wind will pick up later in Zeeland, making it feel cooler there.
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring more cloud and occasional rain. The weather remains a little cool for the time of year, with temperatures around 20 to 23°, and a moderate westerly breeze.
Showers are expected to become heavier and more frequent by Wednesday afternoon. Some places could end up with 70 millimetres of rain by the end of the week – close to a full month’s worth.
By the weekend, the weather is likely to calm down, with drier days returning and highs around 20° at the coast and up to 23° inland.
