Concrete blocks damage cars on A1 in suspected sabotage

Several cars have been damaged after hitting concrete blocks which had been dumped on the A1 motorway near Apeldoorn, the transport department said on Monday.
The blocks were discovered near the De Hucht service station near the Veluwe heathland region and are thought to have fallen or been thrown from a nearby viaduct. There are no camera images of the incident.
“We do have cameras above the road, but the footage is not stored because that is not allowed by law,” a transport department spokesman said. “The cameras are used to monitor traffic flow.”
It is the third such incident in the area in the past week. Similar incidents took place on the A50 on Saturday and last Wednesday.
“This time it happened on the A1 and we believe it was intentional,” the spokesman said.
Police removed the concrete from the road and the motorway has since reopened.
