Warm and sunny weekend ahead, with tropical heat in the south

After several rather cloudy and changeable days, summer warmth is returning this weekend, with tropical temperatures expected in the south on Sunday, according to weather bureau Weeronline.

Following a rainy start on Friday morning, the sun will break through later in the day. The west will see the most sunshine, but there will also be sunny spells further inland. Daytime temperatures will range from 20° along the coast to 25° in the southeast, with a moderate west to south-westerly wind.

Saturday will start grey in central regions, while the north and south may already see sunshine. By mid-morning, temperatures will climb to between 15° and 19°. In the afternoon, widespread cloud cover is expected, though there will be occasional sunny intervals.

The wind, moderate inland and at times fairly strong along the coast, will come from the west or southwest. Maximum temperatures will reach 21° in the northern tip of Noord-Holland, while the south could see 27° to 29°. Cloud cover will gradually break up during the evening.

On Sunday, it will be sunny across the country, and in Limburg and the eastern parts of Brabant temperatures could hit 30°. Winds will be lighter than on Friday and Saturday, making it feel even warmer.

At the beach, a sea breeze will develop during the afternoon, bringing cooler temperatures.

On Monday, it is set to turn even hotter, with plenty of sunshine and tropical temperatures of 30° to 33° inland. After Tuesday, the heat will likely ease and there is an increased risk of thunderstorms.

Later in the week, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 20° and 25°, with a mix of sunshine, clouds and the occasional shower.
