Rail services to Schiphol airport were disrupted for the second day in a row on Wednesday, this time due to a signal failure.

On Tuesday, services to the airport were affected for most of the day because of a fire in the track cabling. Police are investigating the cause of the blaze and say it could be a case of sabotage.

Dutch rail operator NS said on Wednesday morning that far fewer trains would run to the airport until at least 10.15 am. The problems affect trains travelling to Schiphol via Amsterdam Zuid, Leiden, Rotterdam and Bijlmer Arena.

Services had only fully resumed after Tuesday’s disruption at 10 pm.
