Man faces 10 years for drugging and abusing teenage boys

The public prosecution department has called for a 10 year jail sentence, followed by compulsory psychiatric treatment, for an Amsterdam man who is accused of drugging and sexually abusing a number of teenage boys.
The man, 43, is said to have contacted teenagers aged 13 to 16 via dating apps, plied them with presents, alcohol and drugs and then abused them. He also faces charges of spreading child pornography and the possession of drugs.
The man carried out his crimes over an eight-year period, the department said in a statement. He targeted youngsters who were wrestling with their sexuality and treated them to parties, presents and alcohol.
But this had a price, the public prosecutor told judges in Amsterdam. “And it was a high price. The suspect asked for nothing but he subtly moved towards sex, sex without boundaries.”
The suspect recorded many of the attacks, which he also shared with others. Police found 4.500 images on his computer, of which 2,600 related to youngsters who have been identified.
“It is hard to do justice to all the damage he has caused to these boys and young men, who had terrible experiences and now are dealing with trauma,” the prosecutor said. “And this was all to satisfy his sexual urges.”
The case again highlights the dangers of dating apps, particularly when vulnerable youngsters are approached by adults, the department said in a statement.
The court will rule on July 8.
