The KNMI weather bureau has issued a code yellow weather warning for the south of the country for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, saying temperatures could top 30° or even higher in Limburg and Noord-Brabant.

But the unusually warm and sunny weather that ends June will give way to more typical Dutch summer conditions at the start of July, with daytime temperatures falling to between 20°C and 25°C from Wednesday onwards.

The first half of the month will bring a mix of sunny spells, dry periods and the occasional (thundery) shower, according to Weerline.

This “normal July weather” is expected to persist until mid-month and from then on, the likelihood of warmer and drier conditions increases significantly.

Temperatures are expected to rise well above the long-term average, bringing many summer days and some tropical days with highs of 30°C or more.
