Cloudy start with scattered showers, but high temperatures ahead

Much of the Netherlands will remain cloudy with showers on Tuesday but the sun will begin the break through later in the day and temperatures will range from 15° along the northern coast to 20° in the south.

Wednesday morning will be sunny in the west and south after early patches of mist.

The north-east will start out cloudier but by the afternoon, there will be sunny periods across much of the country, especially in the south, with temperatures rising to 18° on the Wadden Islands and up to 24° locally in the south.

By Thursday and Friday the temperature will increase to at least 30° in places, as blast of hot air moves across the country. It will be mainly cloudy and there may also be thunderstorms on Friday evening and on Saturday.

By Sunday it will be slightly cooler, but thunderstorms are still likely, the KNMI weather bureau said.

Next week the temperature will drop back to just above seasonal average, with sunshine and cloud.
