Bloemendaal aan Zee has the most expensive beach parking

The hot weather and train strikes will prompt many to head for the beach in their cars this week, but beachgoers would do well to check parking rates, website Gaspedaal.nl said on Thursday.
People who want to spend the day at Bloemendaal aan Zee will have to fork out €33.60 for a parking spot, making it the most expensive of all Dutch coastal resorts, the website said.
In Hoek van Holland, Callantsoog and Ouddorp, parking is free, while in nine other resorts, such as Renesse and Egmond aan Zee, the rate is less than €10.
Fines for parking in the wrong place or not paying enough can go up to €133, the website warned. The three resorts issuing the most fines last year were Schouwen-Duiveland (3,627), Westland (2,428) and Beverwijk (2,199).
