KLM cancels flights after maintenance procedure error

KLM expects to have to cancel more flights in the coming weeks because maintenance procedures for one type of aircraft have not been followed properly, a spokesman told broadcaster NOS.
This weekend five flights were scrapped and the airline expects one or two flights a day to be impacted while work continues on solving the issue, the spokesman said.
On Friday, KLM said that extra maintenance was necessary on seven of its Boeing 787s because the airline had not correctly followed maintenance procedures. The issue involves a component used during aircraft refuelling.
There is no risk to passenger safety, KLM said. The airline has 24 Boeing 787s in its fleet, which are used to fly to America, Asia and Africa.
