First official summer day recorded as temperatures hit 25°

The temperature hit 25° at the De Bilt weather station near Utrecht on Wednesday, making it the first official “summery” day of the year.
Temperatures of 25° and above are usually reached for the first time around May 16.
The earliest “summery” day was recorded on April 14, 2007, when it reached 27.6° in De Bilt, while the latest was on July 18 in 1906.
Thursday is also set to bring summer temperatures, with highs of up to 28° in the south, according to weather bureaus.
However, the temperature is expected to fall again in the coming days, and by Sunday it will be no more than 14°, according to the KNMI weather bureau.
There could be a few drops of rain on Friday and Saturday, the KNMI says, but overall the weather will be dry with sunny spells.
Official Dutch weather records are always set at De Bilt which is considered to be the centre of the country. Temperatures of between 25° and 30° are said to be “summery” while over 30° is “tropical”.
